Hi! My name is Nathaniel Molina, and I am a junior at Lexington High School. I recently started this program to help immigrated children adjust and find a sense of community in the United States.
I first had the idea to create United Roots after I visited Colombia this past summer, where I had the opportunity to volunteer at a school. For some context, I am half Colombian, and I deeply identify with that part of my heritage. Speaking Spanish from a young age has allowed me to form meaningful connections with the people I meet there, and my time working at the school was a gratifying experience, where I learned just as much as the kids around me.
Something that blew me away was the powerful sense of community that seemed to bond everyone together. I witnessed how education and support can make a difference, and it inspired me to continue helping people from different countries—this time, back home in the U.S. I want to create a welcoming space where immigrant children can find guidance, build friendships, and feel at home in a new environment.
Through this initiative, I hope to make a positive impact on the lives of young immigrants. Whether you're a student in need of support, a volunteer looking to help, or someone who believes in this mission, I invite you to join me in creating a community where everyone belongs!
